-
Sandra Paola Lopez was born and raised in Bogota, Colombia. She began her training in ballet, modern, jazz and tap at a very young age in schools such as Ballarte Escuela de Ballet, Ecodanza, and Petipa. She moved to the United States in 2004 pursuing a dancing career and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Dance with minors in Religion and Psychology from Missouri State University (MSU). While attending MSU she was awarded in multiple occasions due to her excellence in dance and academics. She was manager and dancer of the university’s dance company INERTIA for three years and had the opportunity to perform on several American College Dance Festivals, one in which her choreography was selected for adjudication. She has performed internationally in Brazil, Cyprus and Colombia where she organized the first International Dance Pedagogy Congress in the summer of 2006. Being away from home has moved Sandra to hold on to her roots making her choreography deeply influenced by Latin culture. She hopes to fulfill her dream by assisting others through dance and earning a Master of Arts in Dance Movement Therapy.
